He who plants a tree
Plants a hope.
~Lucy Larcom
It’s easy to forget, in our wired world, the environmental impact of our digital lives.
According to one estimate, a full tenth of the world’s electricity is consumed by the use of computers and smartphones – and this percentage is growing.
What is the impact of a single blog on the environment?
The average blog will contribute 8 lbs of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere each year. When you multiply that by the number of blogs available, the impact is considerable.
So what’s a blogger to do?
I was happy to learn through Lynda Lippin’s blog that there is an initiative afoot to help bloggers offset the carbon impact of their work.
By writing a short post on this topic, and emailing the link to [email protected], Green Gestures will plant a tree to offset the carbon dioxide your blog produces.
It’s an idea that’s too good not to share.
